Emperor Wudi of the Han Dynasty (206 BC – 25 AD) had made it part of his territory, naming it Yeyu. Then, the Kingdom of Nanzhao in the Tang dynasty (618 – 907 AD) reconstructed the town from 764 AD onward and moved it’s capital here in 799 AD. This comprises the original section of ancient Dali.
